It was Scoil Assaim’s second match of the season against Rush.

Rush only have just a junior side, so they put all of their effort into that team alone.

In the first ten minutes Scoil Assiam were asleep. But after that Scoil Assiam

were blocking, tackling and most of all fighting for the ball. The defence and the goalkeeper, Liam Synott, were under a lot of pressure in the first and second half. Liam  Synott was out field in the second half  and Luke Mitchell played a stormer in goal. Luke Moreau played midfield with Sean Ryan striking the ball into the forwards.  They did their best to score points but the rush defence was too good, clearing the ball off the line every time. In the second half, Scoil Assaim woke up and scored a few points. We lost in the end but it was a good fair game.

Best of luck to our Super Seniors in their semi final today!!.

Scoil Assaim will face Sacred Heart Ballygall in a battle for a place in the Corn J.M.O’B. final in Croke Park!

Match is at 3.15 on the Ballymun Kickhams astro-turf pitch.

All support welcome!!!

''We're all behind the fight night!''

Below is just a small taste of the talent that Ms. Cloherty witnessed in Zambia over the Easter break. If Simon Cowell and his crew took a trip over, he would surely discover plenty of amazing footballers, dancers and models too!

These fantastic children own absolutely nothing materialistic, with the exception of the clothes you see them wearing in the video. Most have no parents to love and care for them. Many live in very unsanitary and unsafe conditions. School really is such a happy and safe place for them!

One third of the money raised in Scoil Assaim’s White Collar Boxing Night will help Zamda Ireland continue to very efficiently support the children in this school, ‘Kangombe Community School’; and ‘Sables’, the brilliant sister-school of St. Joseph’s BNS in Fairview. Over the coming months, Zamda Ireland aim to send uniforms out to each child (the children take great pride in their education); furnish a night shelter for the street children of Kabwe and open a skills training centre (carpentry, sewing, bicycle repairs etc.). However the realisation of these aims is very much dependent on funding and that is where we come in!!

Let’s spread the word, guys! Zamda Ireland and the Help Sergio Fund are two very special (and very small!) organisations that need our help. May 11th is looming and we are looking for as much sponsorship (and as large-scale attendance!) as possible on the night! Let’s do our very best for them!

Is Féidir Linn!!

Zambia’s Got Talent!

(Note: About halfway throught this video, the lads at the front of the circle begin to reveal their natural rhythm!! Watch out for it!)

Our main fundraising event of this year is our White Collar Boxing Night. Michael Carruth along with his two brothers (they’re triplets!!) and some other members of their club down in Drimnagh have been training 30 teachers, parents and friends into becoming real boxers for one night only!!. We even have some ‘celebrities’ taking part like Michael Westbrooks and Don Wycherly! Each person has their own sponsorship card (you might consider sponsoring them?!) and are trying their best to raise as much money. What makes it even more special is that we’re splitting all proceeds three ways! The first charity is called Help Sergio (see www.helpsergio.com). Sergio is Mr. O’Connor’s nephew who needs to go to Bostonfor a life saving operation. It is EXTREMELY expensive so all donations will be greatly appreciated. The second charity is Zamda Ireland (see www.zamdaireland.ie). This is an organisation set up to help people in Zambia. Ms. Cloherty has been a great help to this organisation, going to Zambiaitself over the Easter Holidays. Last but not least is the Scoil Assaim itself. The remaining money will help get new sport, art and electrical equipment and lots of other stuff. The actual night is on May 11th in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry. You can get tickets from Bern, the Parents Association or from the ‘boxers’ themselves. Sadly, it’s over 18’s so no students can go L, but for the adults it will be a great, ‘child-free’ night and we’re hoping that everyone will enjoy it thoroughly!!

For the junior hurlers it was their first match on Tuesday of the season.

Sporting our class new jerseys (Sponsored by Murfit – Adam Murphy’s dad’s company), it was a tough match against St. Brigids Castleknock in Tom Russell Park. The weather was terrible so it was hard to catch the ball. Credit to Castleknock.

They were our first match and it was brilliant, all of the players did their best in the match.  Scoil Assaim’s defence was brilliant with Darragh, Nathan and Adam Codd clearing every ball out of Scoil Assaim defence. The midfield with Luke Moreau and Sean Ryan dropping every ball in the goal; and thanks to Luke Mitchell who scored three goals for Scoil Assaim.  The final score was 1-4 to 5-0. We didn’t forget about the forwards who played stormer, Tom Geary, Connor Dunne,  Niall Walsh, Luke Mitchell, Ben Roberts, and Ben McGuirk who all played  a brilliant match.  Scoil Assaim Juniors are very much looking forward to their next match now on Tuesday week!

(Note: Team photo to follow after next match- It was too wet on the day to take out the camera or stand around!!)

Last Saturday, the 10 March, Sean Grenham, Donnchadh Mac Aodha and Darren Branigan and I (Patrick Kelly) competed in a quiz in the Ardboyne Hotel in Navan.

We had progressed from a North Dublin quiz in Parnells G.A.A club.We came third in that quiz behind two Belgrove teams. We were one point behind the Belgrove teams. In the quiz on Saturday we got a grand total of 82 points out of 100. The winners (from Tullamore) got 92 out of 100.

Big thanks to the rest of the team (including the Ultimate Guesser, you know who you are). Also big thanks to the parents who brought us to Navan, Mr.Byrne for giving us this oppurtunity and to Michael Gillick for his contribution to the team.

Today, both 5th and 6th classes went to Micheal Carruth’s Silver Boxing Programme. It lasted half an hour for each class. For this programme, everybody needs a gum shield. The first session took place at Trinity Boxing Club (as will all the other weeks in the programme).

When we arrived, Micheal welcomed us to the Silver Programme. He introduced us to Oisin Fagan, a former Irish and North American boxing champion. He also told us that he will be losing more than half of the participants for the Gold Programme, which includes 3 weeks in the National Stadium, the home of Irish boxing. All of the effort put into the schools training programme will culminate in an inter-school fight night, which will involve the best boxers from our school fighting the best from other schools. Sadly, the boxing ring was broken so no actual boxing took place today.

Oisin took over most the training this week. He gave us a warm-up which included stretches and a few boxing drills. Then he split us up into two groups of roughly nine boys. One group skipped while the other punched punching bags. There was 6 minutes of intense training with one minute breaks here and there, before switching with the other group. Near the end of the session, Oisin gave us some end-stretches and then let us leave. I think everyone really enjoyed the training but, the big question is; WHO will make it to the Gold Programme??!!

Our senior boys were put through their paces today by Michael Carruth and Oisín Fagan in Trinity Boxing Club. This marked the beginning of our Silver Certificate in Boxing programme. Who better to describe the energy-filled sweat-inducing session than the boys involved………

So keep an eye out for their reports/ photos/ videos over the coming days!
